Four miles long, the Promenade offers the visitor many choices. Whether
to visit all the
attractions, sit watching the large array of ships that pass by out
to sea or just walk along,
observing the beautiful flower gardens, boating lake and the wide
area of Common, a
wonderful stretch of green park land, which separates the city from
the sea. |

ROYAL
MARINES MUSEUM
At the East end of the Promenade stands the grand building
which houses the Museum. Inside exhibitions tell the story
of the Royal Marines from 1664 to the present day, including
their part in Falklands War.

SOUTHSEA
CASTLE
This castle, open to the public, was built by Henry V111 as
part of his sea defences. It was from this fascinating place
that the King was supposed to have watched the sinking of
his beloved ship the Mary Rose.

D-DAY
MUSEUM
The museum houses the Overlord Embroidery which tells the
story of the D-Day Landings. It has excellent displays
depicting life in wartime Britain and military vehicles of
those times.

BLUE
REEF CENTRE
Huge aquarium dedicated to preserving marine life.
Wonderful displays of the ocean life, touch pools where some
of the fish can be handled. Brilliant web site for children.
